Youtube, Rezo and million clicks

Political videos are very rarely among the contents that go "viral", i.e. have unexpectedly high and rapid distribution figures.

Chinese puppetry

I have already written before that Youtube alias Alphabet (WKN: US02079K3059) is censoring away its own business model. On behalf of national governments, unwelcome content is sometimes deleted or entire channels are permanently blocked. The most prominent example is certainly the former video maker and Trump supporter Alex Jones from Infowars.

Helped?

Another manipulation method of Youtube is now also dramatically increasing. In the press last week, the Rezo video was discussed much and often. I was very suspicious from the beginning, how a previously completely unknown Youtuber can create such a professionally made video with these gigantic click numbers from nothing. Now it came out that T-Online with TubeOne from the advertising group Ströer are behind it. Anyone who has already uploaded videos to YouTube knows how difficult it is, even with popular content, to achieve extensive click numbers. Political videos are very rarely among the content that goes "viral", i.e. that has unexpectedly high and rapid distribution figures. I have the suspicion that the Rezo video in particular has been massively helped with the click numbers. There are enough offers e.g. here, here or here.

Advertising industry

In the medium to long term, this damages Youtube's reputation. As a rule, advertisers do not put up with trickery for too long. The circulation of traditional print media, and with it the advertising orders, have been collapsing radically for years. A radical wave of bankruptcies is expected in the next few years. I'm curious to see when YouTube will suffer the first negative financial effects for the group.
