NetzDG

If freedom means anything at all, it means the right to say what they don't want to hear.George Orwell, English writer

The Network Enforcement Act (NetzDG) has been in force since 1 January. Le Monsieur Federal Minister of Justice Heiko Maas (SPD) wants to use it to force platform operators such as Facebook and Twitter even more strongly to censor. The law sets certain deletion deadlines for obviously punishable content such as incitement of the people. There is no longer any need for judges to decide right from wrong. Facebook and Twitter can now do that themselves. Why do we actually need judges when it's so easy. Uncomfortable content is to be censored and deleted within 24 hours, and in cases that are more difficult to decide, action is to be taken against it within seven days. Those who repeatedly and systematically fail to comply with this requirement face fines in the millions, i.e. the platform operator. In the law does not say what exactly is hate speech now. It is probably enough to exclaim: "You do say hate..."!
