Digital racket gangs
Among the many threats to information security, malware is the main threat. Malware refers to malicious software and programs that can be used to attack the integrity as well as abuse computer systems. The producers of malware are THE digital thug gangs and arms dealers on the Internet. The developers of this malware are criminal and very creative. The scope of malware includes viruses, Trojan horses, worms, root-kits, spy- and adware, etc. Negative effects of malware are manifold and annoying. They include stealing or destroying data, damaging hardware, triggering DoS (Denial of Service) attacks, turning the infected computer into a base for criminal activity, etc. Malware infection takes place via emails, downloads or copies of infected files.
Malware - Attack on your money
Probably the most famous and oldest type of malware is the classic computer virus. Viruses represent hidden and self-replicating programs. This sounds threatening - and it is! A virus specifically infects certain files, and once activated by the user, the virus multiplies and unfolds. Worms and Trojans are very similar to a virus: all three types of malware differ only in their propagation mechanism. Worms occur independently without a host program and are thus capable of infecting multiple computers on the network. Trojan horses (Trojans) are subroutines in an installed main program that go unnoticed and set up remote control capabilities. Such Trojans are extremely dangerous, they have the potential to spy on your privacy and assets extensively and secretly. Rootkits are also a dangerous form of spy software; they hide files and processes that would allow a stranger's intrusion into the system to be detected.
