Youtube has found its David

Alternative platforms

A short time ago I wrote about the ignorant customer treatment of the big Internet giants, also known as FAANG companies / shares. Youtube has also fallen into disrepute, a paraistic treatment of partners, (because nothing else are the creators of videos) seems to move the video giant just itself into the economic end and the share price slumps seem to anticipate this development and anticipate a future devaluation. The list of former IT giants is long and their decline revealing (Yahoo, Netscape, Borland, SUN, Nokia, etc.).

In my search for an alternative to Youtube, I then came across DTube or Bitchute, among others. Through the Blochchain technology, Proof-of-Stake and IPFS (Inter Planetary File System) can at least not be censored. Videos that were censored on Youtube for flimsy reasons, for example because of alleged hate speech and often even without giving reasons, I could at least watch on these new platforms. However, the payment system is unresolved, the range of functions is still very manageable and the data throughput is also limited.

The Youtuber and Blogger Gerd-Lothar Reschke has pointed me to Bit.Tube and I was immediately enthusiastic. At my vacation spot I made my first experiences with Bit.Tube and want to describe them here briefly. On my MAC, the first message that comes up is "This page has a high energy consumption." Which doesn't bother me at all. The registration was fast and if you know your way around Youtube, you'll find your way around pretty quickly. First I watched some music videos and introductory videos about Bit.Tube. Then I wanted more detailed information and have downloaded the whitepaper and read through.

BitTube Coins

The claim Bit.Tube makes for itself is a downright vulgar battle cry against Youtube - aka Google - aka Alphabet.

  • Fair payment system for content creators - BOOM!
  • The data should be independent of storage companies so server hosting - BOOM, BOOM!!!
  • Ensuring the worldwide right to free speech (Oh Lord Jesus Christ forbid!) without censorship - BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!

This is made possible by a:

  • Own currency the BitTube Coins
  • the project is debt free
  • Financing from own capital thus independent of banks
  • the own PrePaid credit card enables the payout
  • decentralised data management by the IPFS

The founder, Mr. Saber Maram, has chosen a powerful, battle-tested team. IT-experienced and crypto specialists who certainly appreciate their headquarters in Tenerife. And you have even more plans because the portal is to be extensively expanded Currently (as of September 2018), a platform is already in beta status with very extensive functions. From November 2018, Premium BitTube will be launched for niche providers of video topics that can be purchased directly from the creator.Really new: Earn money for watching videos - where is there such a thing?

The breakdown of mining revenue is currently as follows:

  • 70% goes to the publishers, video producers or music streamers;
  • 20% is allowed to the spectators and listeners;
  • 10% are reserved for platform development and BitTube marketing.

Last year I published a video in which BitCoin interested people warned against a BitCoin investment and reaped some criticism for it. Perhaps the reader may now wonder about my enthusiasm about BitTube Coin. However, my warning and forecast regarding BitCoin has been confirmed. The BitCoin Kurzs has collapsed by 70%. The technical problems such as the immense power consumption, excessively long transaction times with a simultaneously low transaction volume or the fork of BitCoin Cash (with a price loss of over 90% ) are becoming increasingly obvious.

As far as Bit.Tube is concerned, my initial euphoria has given way to a certain hopeful skepticism. I am convinced that the new decentralized cryptographic blockchain systems (I'll just call it that now) will change the internet and society greatly. Bit.Tube certainly has what it takes to become a serious competitor for YouTube. The services and benefits are just too compelling. But I don't forget that Bit.Tube is a very young platform and still has some tests ahead of it:

  • Will Bit.Tube still be able to handle high volumes or will it have a similar problem as BitCoin?
  • The revolutionary IPFS really protects it from censorship and deletion, what abuse scenarios might result?
  • Will Bit.Tube Coin currency be usable or is it just another annoying cryptocurrency?

Anyway, I will publish my future videos on Bit.Tube because I am convinced: Bit.Tube is the new David and YouTube is the Goliath and the slingshot is the Blockhain.
